Weihnachtsfrieden, Trêve de Noël

As it is Remembrance Sunday, I thought I would upload a poem I wrote about the first World War some time ago. It is about the Christmas Truce in 1914, a day when the soldiers stopped fighting and, so it’s told, played a football match against one another. A true sign of peace, even in the trenches they’d been fighting the day before, and the trenches they would fight the day after. Just click on the PDF to read it.
